"This game looks pretty but plays poorly"

submission: V E C T O R
date: September 18, 2008

The game looks and feels great. yur ship is a little sluggish, but i always has been in asteroid games. Some problems with game play: It's a little odd that you and your enemies can wrap around the screen but your shots can't. Secondly and most importantly, the blue triangle enemies are too powerful. Their attack can hit you no matter where you are, even beyond the range of your own weapon. They need to be toned down severely, they really ruin the gameplay. Lastly, asteroids should explode away from the player's ship. Decent game otherwise, but not that fun to play.

Zorro Team

"Interesting game, but becomes rather long..."

submission: Zorro Team
date: April 20, 2006

I like the concept of this game. It gives your mouse hand (and arm) quite an exercise, so adding the "Save Game" feature was a life saver, thank you. The game is fun. The game looks and sounds crisp, and the point collection system works well (the farther a household is, the more time you have to collect its points, which is helpful). Overall, the game is amusing, although it seems somewhat less inspired than Zorro Tank, which I really liked.

However, I agree with most people here that the first few levels need to be much shorter. The first level, which is 100 seconds long, could realistically be 30 seconds and still provide people with the necessary "training."

One last thing regarding your soundtrack: The songs you use seem familiar, but they could be original and I wouldn't know. Could you list the credits for the music of the game? Thanks.

And don't worry about people criticizing you for using the Naruto characters. I thought it was quite clever how you edited them. Besides, the number of people who borrow matieral for flash submissions are innumerable. Borrowing material is the nature of the business--people need to deal with it.

"Great concept but needs some serious tuning"

submission: HAMU

This breakout game offers some really neat concepts. I like the idea of blocks remaining in play after you destroy them (the first time). The hidden blocks can be frustrating at times, but they make the game challenging.

Unfortunately, this game suffers from poor "physics." The ball does not react to the momentum of the pad. Instead, the ball's direction and speed is based solely on where it strikes the pad. Furthermore, the ball has a tendency to move either straight ahead or very horizontally, with little middle ground. The ball moves slowly, so it takes a long time for a horizontally moving ball to bounce its way from the top back to the bottom of the screen. It really hurts the pace of the game.

Super Biology Adventure

"Great game"

date: April 9, 2006

This is a fun game. At first, I thought the final mission was impossible, but once you grow large enough that you can eat enemies without shooting them first, the game becomes very playable. Graphics are very slick, and the music is good (though the girl's voice is a tad trite).

I would like more missions. The final mission is indeed intense, but with proper growth, the player could handle even more intense levels.

Perhaps a "New Game +" mode would be cool as well.

Murloc RPG

"Interesting game, offers promise..."

submission: Murloc RPG
date: March 16, 2006

First of all, the game looks good and sounds good (even though everything was borrowed, but there is nothing wrong with that if the game is based on WoW). However, the gameplay is very bland, and despite the length of the game, I feel like I am doing the same thing over and over again.

I do not find one-on-one battles interesting--although I have not completed the game, that is all I have seen for the 40 minutes I have played. One-on-one RPG battles develop into nothing more than a slap-fest, seeing who can kill whom faster. The 1v1 battles also make level grinding particularly boring, compounded by the fact that there are few kinds of enemies (mostly wolves, I've seen). Even worse, you must constantly fight those enemies ad nauseum to fulfill your quests. I did not enjoy having to kill 10 wolves only to fight 10 crabs back-to-back, and then kill another 8 wolves. It's not fun. I know I have yet to complete the game, but a slow start can make a huge first impression.

However, I rate your game higher than my review may suggest because the game is complete. Nothing is more disappointing than a good concept that never gets finished. Your game is a complete game experience, and I applaud that. The selection of fury/magic was nice as well.

I think your game has great potential if the above issues were taken into consideration: being able to create a party, a larger variety of enemies, and more interesting quests. I know that it isn't easy implementing such upgrades, but seeing what you have done so far, I am very confident that you have both the talent and insight to make this game better.

Author's Response:

Stay tuned for my next project, it will be much better. Thanks for the review :)

Unreal Flash

"Incredible game, lots of bugs, though..."

submission: Unreal Flash
date: March 15, 2006

I love this game. I was always a huge fan of Unreal Tournament, and this game does a great job of converting it to 2D. The weapons often a good variety of destruction, the enemy AI is challenging, and the graphics and sounds are sharp. I would like to see an option that can disable friendly fire in Team Deathmatch, as well as perhaps an unlimited max kill score.

There are some bugs, however. First of all, in Team Deathmatch, You can increase your team's score by killing your own team mates. Secondly, the game registers "Double Kills" (etc.) if you include killing your team mates or even yourself; double kills should only include killing your enemies.

Thi game is great and I look foward to any upgrades or improvements. I absolutely love double shotguns!

Full Numa Alchemist

"Nothing special"

date: February 11, 2006

I'm sorry, but I am really tired of Numa Numa. Regardless of quality, a submission can't dwell in the past on overrated fads.

The idea was interesting. Full Metal Alchemist is a great show, but to combine it with Numa is rather uninteresting.

"Awesome game"

date: February 9, 2006

This is such an improvement over the original. This game is so simple yet so very addicting. It is a great way to procrastinate, I easily blew 3 hours playing this game. The fact that it is so easy to restart the game makes it even that much more... dangerous.

"Great game"

date: February 6, 2006

This is a hard core flash sim game. The game is difficult at first, but I assure you, it is very playable once you figure it out.

The game is very stylish, especially graphically. There are elements of it that I simply find hilarious. The whole way the cows are processed... very amusing, albeit disturbing. The flamethrower equals an automatic 10 for violence, haha! The game is challenging, although I would prefer some objectives to help give you a sense of direction (maybe a player promotion system would help).

Next up, you should include a world map that allows you to spread your restaurants across the globe. World domination!

Office Chimp

"Great game with some minor annoyances"

submission: Office Chimp
date: January 24, 2006

This was a fun game. I am pretty bad at it, so I couldn't win by 50 days on both my trys. But that's more my problem than the games. I find this a better twist of the standard Flash dating game, although I think you could also add even more originality and make a truly unique game. Any plans for a second game?

In any case, some things were annoying. The sound clip "I'm not your friend" simply became aggravating after hearing it every five seconds. Also, the cubicles didn't seem to have permanent "residents," and had a random person in them each time. I feel in a real office, people would be assigned cubes and you can expect to find them there.

Anyway, fun game, I hope you make a second version with improvements. The dialogue was very funny and it fit the characters well. I love Lina Inverse, and I am not surprised you made her a drug addict, ha!
